Back to the Studio: A Summer Break

What are you doing for vacation this year? Do you have plans to go anywhere special? Are you staying home for a few days? Well, I didn't have anywhere to go myself, but I did take a break and put in for some much needed vacation time this week. And what an unbelievably productive week it has been!

This painting has been sitting on my easel for the past few weeks and I haven't spent any time working on it. However, this past week I took the opportunity to finally get back to it! It felt so good to be able to spend each day painting for however long I wanted. I had numerous projects to work on - decorations for a baby shower, items for my new office at work to spruce up the place and the painting above. I haven't finished this particular piece yet but just being able to spend some solid hours working on it was a nice change from my normal routine. Typically I spend mainly the weekends working on my artwork because I just don't have the energy or the time to do so during the week. As can happen sometimes, I have been busy working on projects for other people up until now, which left very little time for my own pieces. I hope that by the end of this weekend I will be able to have this piece finished and ready to hang but if not I will still enjoy the time I got to put into it this week. Now that's what I call a good "staycation!"

Do you have any projects left undone? What is your work routine when it comes to your artwork? If you have any tips for the rest of us feel free to share in the comments section!

P.S. Happy Fourth of July to everyone here in the states!
